The mission of All Abilities Child Care (AACC), is to make inclusive child care, as well as early education services, available to children with Developmental Disabilities (DD), at little to no cost for their families, through the help and support of local communities. It is our belief that these services will give the families an opportunity to thrive, saving them precious money, and giving them time for more substantial employment.
All Abilities Child Care believes that children with developmental disabilities need child care workers who have experience and training in implementing special programs and services based on a child's individual needs. Children with developmental disabilities can achieve more independence and live more productive lives as adults if they have been given the time and attention they need to realize their full potential. Parents of children with developmental disabilities must devote more time, energy, and money to raising their children in order to care for the special medical and psychosocial needs that are inherent with developmental disabilities. These parents are often limited in the number of hours they can work away from home due to the lack of available child day programs designed for their children and staffed by employees familiar with their children's special needs. Programs that are available may cost more than these parents can afford to pay.
We will also create a network of social advocates that will help our communities understand the important role that individuals with DD have in our society. The practice of inclusion is important, not only to the children with DD, but to everyone in our communities. The practice of separating children with special needs is a thing of the past, and new, more integrated practices need to be adopted.
The goal of All Abilities Child Care is to receive enough contributions and monetary donations to ensure that parents of developmentally disabled children can have free childcare that benefits the psychosocial needs of each child. AACC's mission will only be realized through the support of our local communities. Together, we can help children with DD, and their families, achieve the same dream that we all share: to have a meaningful, and sustainable life.
